The ratio of the mixture is 4y:3x

Given data :

Milk and water ratio in first mixture = 5:3

Milk and water ratio in second mixture = 5:4

So, the milk and water amount in the first mixture = 5x and 3x (x = variable for first mixture)

So, the milk and water amount in the second mixture = 5y and 4y (y = Variable for second mixture)

Let, the new ratio of mixture = a:b

So, the milk and water amount in the first mixture = 5ax and 3ax

So, the milk and water amount in the second mixture = 5by and 4by

So, the total milk and total water = 5ax + 5by , 3ax+4by

Now, (5ax+4by) : (3ax+4by) = 4:3

Evaluating the above equation

15ax+12by = 12ax+16by

3ax = 4by

3ax/b = 4y

a/b = 4y/3x

Now by concluding answer

a:b = 4y:3x
