let the number be X and y where x is greater than y.
2x+3y=100......(i)....×3
3x+2y=120.....(ii)......×2
by equation (ii)-(i),we have
9x+6y-4x-6y=360-200
5x=160
X=32
put X=32 in equation (i)
2×32+3y=100
64+3y=100
3y=100-64
3y=36
y=36/3
y=12.
