There are two numbers with the difference of 3 between them and the difference of their squares is 51. Can you find the numbers?​

Let those two numbers a and b .

Given that the difference i.e. (a-b) = 3.

Also it is given (a² - b²) = 51.

Now we know that (a² - b²) can be written as the product of (a-b) and (a+b).

Thus (a² - b²) = (a-b)(a+b) = 51.

Putting the value of (a-b)=3 in the above equation we will get,

-> 3(a+b) = 51

Thus (a+b)= 17. Now we have two equations as (a+b) =17 and (a-b) =3 .

Solving the above two obtained equations we get , a=10 and b=7.
