Given :- There are two shopkeepers, first shopkeeper calculates his profit percent on the selling price whereas the second shopkeeper calculates his profit percent on the cost price. If the selling price for both the shopkeeper is same and the difference between their profits is Rs.175. Then, calculate the sum of the cost price for both the shopkeeper if the profit percent for the both shopkeeper is 25% ?

A) Rs 5425 B) Rs 4875 C) Rs 4675 D) Rs 5275

Solution :- (By Ratio method)

25% Profit at CP :-

→ CP/SP = 4/5

→ CP : SP = 4 : 5

25% Profit at SP :-

→ CP/SP = 3/4

→ CP : SP = 3 : 4

since SP is same in both case , multiply first ratio by 4 and second by 5 ,

→ CP : SP = 16 : 20

→ CP : SP = 15 : 20

therefore,

→ Profit on second - profit on first = Rs.175

→ (20 - 15) - (20 - 16) = Rs.175

→ 5 unit - 4 unit = Rs.175

→ 1 unit = Rs.175

hence,

→ Sum of cost price = (16 + 15) = 31 units = 31 * 175 = Rs.5425 (A) (Ans.)
