Given : 108 ml of water in a glass and 20 ml of lemon we want to create lemon water such that 20% of the solution is lemon .

To find :   how many ml of lemon would we add.

Solution:

Let say x ml od lemon is added

then lemon = 20  + x  ml

Water = 108 ml

Total solution = 108 + 20 + x  =   128 +  x  ml

Lemon  % is 20 % in solution

=> 100 *   (20 + x) / ( 128 + x)   =    20

=> => 5 *   (20 + x) = 128 + x

=> 100 + 5x = 128 + x

=> 4x = 28

=> x  = 7

7 ml of lemon will be added to get 20% of the solution
