Force required to move the plate is 1.5 N.

Explanation:

1. On apply force on plate, there are viscous force act on plate to resist the motion.

2. For moving the plate minimum force to be act on plate is equal to viscous force.

3. Where viscous force(F)

  F=\tau \times A

 Where \tau = Shear stress = \mu \times \frac{U}{t}

4. So

   viscous force(F) =\mu \times \frac{U}{t}\times A      ...1)

  Where

  \mu = Coefficient of viscosity of liquid = 1 Poise = 0.1(\frac{Ns}{m^{2}})

 U = Speed of plate = 1.5 (\frac{m}{s})

t = Thickness of liquid = 1 mm =0.001 (m)

A = Area of plate = 10^{-2}(m^{2})

5. From equation 1)

    F = 0.1 \times \frac{1.5}{0.001}\times 10^{-2}

  So force (F)= 1.5 N
