There is a banyan tree near the government school. Its branches spread around 200 units radius about its trunk. It has given shelter to many creatures like birds, monkeys, squirrels, rats etc. The number of monkeys is 17 less than thrice of the number of squirrels and the number of squirrels is 1 more than twice the number of rats. Sarthak has given rice to the birds on the ground. All the birds came down to eat the rice. He counted them and found that the number of birds is the sum of number of squirrels and four times the number of monkeys.
1A. If number of rats is x, then number of monkeys will be
(a) 6x – 17 (b) 6x – 16 (c) 6x – 14 (d) 3x – 17
1B. If number of monkeys is 10, then number of squirrels will be
(a) 10 (b) 9 (c) 8 (d) None of these
1C. Sarthak told that the number of birds is 75. Then the corresponding equation is
(a) 16x – 15 = 75 (b) 26x – 57 = 75 (c) 16x – 55 = 75 (d) 26x – 55 = 75
1D. In the above case (as in 1C), find the number of squiirels.
(a) 11 (b) 21 (c) 13 (d) 17
1E. Then the total number of creatures living in the Banyan tree is
(a) 103 (b) 107 (c) 110 (d) 115

Answer:
A purse has only one-rupee and two-rupee coins in it. The number of two-rupee
coins is one-third the number of one-rupee coins. If the purse has 115, find the
number of two-rupee coins.
