Pressure on each surface are :

  1. P₁ = 5 kPa
  2. P₂ = 2.5 kPa
  3. P₃ = 10 kPa

\huge \text {\mathbb{\underline {EXPLANATION}}}

Given that,

Length = L = 20cm = 0.2m

Breadth = B = 5cm = 0.05m

Height = H = 10cm = 0.1m

Froce = F = 50N

We know that,

Pressure = Force / Area

\boxed{P =\frac{F}{A}}

The different surface areas are :

  1. Length * Breadth = LB = 0.2 * 0.05 = 0.01 = 10⁻²
  2. Length * Height = LH = 0.2 * 0.1 = 0.02 = 2*10⁻²
  3. Breadth * Height = BH = 0.05 * 0.1 = 5*10⁻³

Therefore,

Pressure on surface 1)

P₁ = F / LB

P₁ = 50 / (10⁻²)

P₁ = 5000 Pa

P₁ = 5 kPa

Pressure on surface 2)

P₂ = F / LH

P₂ = 50 / (2*10⁻²)

P₂ = 2500

P₂ = 2.5 kPa

Pressure on surface 3)

P₃ = F / BH

P₃ = 50 / (5*10⁻³)

P₃ = 10000

P₃ = 10 kPa
