Answer:Kanyakumari is close to the equator, whereas CHANDIGARH is far from the equator. This means that Kanyakumari is at a lesser latitude as compared to CHANDIGARH We know that Kanyakumari is at 8°N latitude, it is just 8 degrees from the equator. As equator receives direct sunlight, the duration between day and night would hardly be felt at Kanyakumari. On the other hand, CHANDIGARH is at 37°N latitude, which means that it is 37 degrees away from the equator or it is 37 degrees away from the area which receives direct sunlight. So, there would be a big difference in the duration of day and night CHANDIGARH This difference is of about 5hrs in CHANDIGARH

Due to the distance from the equator and earth's rotation on its axis.

Explanation:

  • The Kanyakumari is located near to the 0 degrees i.e equator the day and night have hardly 3 to 4 hours of difference hence it's rarely felt. The farther we go away from the equation towards the poles the distance increases and so does the time gap.
  • As the equator has fixed 12 hours of day and night the same time gets reduced to half in the northern hemisphere. The elevation of Chandigarh lies at 321 meters above the mean sea level and is located close to the Shivalik ranges i.e at 30.74° N.
