Given:-

There is a hall 40 m in length and 30 m in breadth. There is verandah 5 m wide surrounding the hall on all the four sides out side.

To find out:-

•Area of verandah

Solution:-

➡️The hall is a rectangle. The hall and verandahs which is out side is bigger rectangle.

➡️Then length of bigger rectangle = 40 + 5 + 5

                                       = 50 m

➡️Breadth of bigger rectangle = 30 + 5 + 5

                                      = 40 m

➡️Area of hall and verandahs = 50 x 40

                                     = 2000 m²

➡️Area of the hall = 40 x 30

                     = 1200 m²

➡️Area of verandahs = 2000 - 1200

                          = 800 m²

Given :-

Length of hall = 40m

Breath of hall = 30m

Verandah who covers the hall

= 5m each side

Solution :-

Area of Rectangle = Length * Breath

Length = 40m, Breath = 30m

Area of Hall = 40 * 30

Area of Hall = 1200m^2

Now,

Length of Verandah and hall = 40 + 5 + 5 = 50m

Breath of Verandah and hall = 30 +5 + 5 = 40m

Area of Verandah = length * Breath

Area of Verandah = 50 * 40

Area of hall and Verandah = 2000m^2

Area of verandah = Area of verandah and hall - Area of hall

Area of verandah = 2000 - 1200

Area of verandah = 800m^2

Formulas related to Rectangle :-

  • Area of rectangle = Length * Breath

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2( L + B)

  • Diagonal of rectangle = √l^2 + b^2
