the nicotine in cigarette smoke is a big part of the problem it rases your blood pressure and heart rate, and makes your blood more likely to clot.

The nicotine present in every kind of cigarettes increases the clotting of the blood the hence the internal hemorrhage occurs too often.

The increased level of cholesterol in the blood narrows down the arterial diameter, thus increasing the pressure of the blood, mainly the systolic pressure.

Nicotine also causes hardening of the wall, further adding to hypertension as arteries cannot expand to its destined level.
