Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

Area of lining = 272 cm^2

● Explanation -

Let x be side of the square.

Area of the square portrait is -

A1 = x^2

4489 = x^2

x = √4489

x = 67 cm

Area of the lining is -

A = A2 - A1

A = (x+2)^2 - x^2

A = (67+2)^2 - 67^2

A = 4761 - 4489

A = 272 cm^2

Hence, area of the outer lining is 272 cm^2.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you..
