There is a light in another room that can be in one of three states: blue, red or off In your room,
you have two buttons numbered 1 and 2 that control the state of the light. The state of light
changes as follows:
• If you press button 1. then the light changes to the next state clockwise around the diagram
If you press button 2 while the light is blue or red the state of the light will not change
If you press button 2 while the light is off the light will change to blue
OTT

1 or 2
2

Red
Blue
You want to make sure that the light is off but since the light is in another room, you do not know
what state the light is currently in. The shortest sequence of button presses that will guarantee
that the light will be off is x1x2... Xe where x:= 1 or 2 for 1 = 1, 2, ..., n.
The value of n is

Answer:

6

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's suppose the light is off So if I press 2 then 1 then 1 now it is again off

Let's suppose the light is blue , if i press 2 then 1 then 1 now it is off

let's suppose the light is red if i press 2 then 1 then  1 it turns blue

So now we started from three diff cases off , blue , red and we have got off in 2 but blue in one . So we have to determine the shortest sequence such that at the end of all cases light is off .

If i press 2 then 1 then 1 then 1 , the blue light ( which we got at the end of 3rd case ) will be off . And other 2 off lights which we got form first 2 cases will also be off

Hence the correct sequence is

2,1,1,2,1,1

PS : This is my first answer , I know it's not very good but i tried to explain

So please keep this in mind while rating my answer

Thank you
