Given :- There is a mixture of wine and water of

150 liters. The ratio of wine to water is 11:4. If 20% of mixture is taken out and same amount of water is added in

the remaining mixture, then find the new ratio of wine and water in the mixture ?

A) 44:31

B) 41:31

C) 33:37

D) 39:41

E) 44:37

Answer :-

→ Initial quantity of wine in mixture = 150 * (11/15) = 110 litre.

and,

→ Initial quantity of water = 150 * (4/15) = 40 litre .

now,

→ Mixture taken out = 20% of 150 = 20 * 150/100 = 30 litre.

so,

→ In 30 litre , quantity of wine taken out = 30 * (11/15) = 22 litre .

→ In 30 litre , quantity of water taken out = 30 * (4/15) = 8 litre .

then,

→ Wine left in mixture = 110 - 22 = 88 litre .

→ Water left in mixture = 40 - 8 = 32 litre.

now,

→ water added = mixture taken out = 30 litre .

therefore,

→ New ratio of wine and water in the mixture = 88 : (32 + 30) = 88 : 62 = 44 : 31 (A) (Ans.)
