Jyoti's method

The pentagon is divided into 2 trapeziums with parallel sides 30cm & 15cm and the height = 15/2

∴Area of each trapezium=1/2(30+15)x15/2

                                   =15/4 x 45

∴the area of pentagon=2 x area of each trapezium

                               =2 x 15/4 x 45=337.5sq.m

Kavitha's method

pentagon is divided into a triangle and a square

area of triangle with base 15cm and height 15cm

Area of triangle=1/2 x 15 x 15sq.m

Area of square =15 x 15

Area of pentagon =sum of the area triangle and square=1/2 x (15 x 15)+(15 x 15)

                                                                               1/2 x 225+225=337.5sq.m
