There is a rectangular field of length 300 m and breadth 240 m. Three roads, each of width 3.2 m pass through the field such that two roads are parallel to the breadth and third road is parallel to the length. Find the total area of three roads and the cost of gravelling the roads at the rate of 2.25 per m.

Answer must be 2475.2 sq. m. and rs. 5569.92. I only want solution.

since one road is parallel to length it has Dimensions of

Length = 300 m ; width = 3.2 m

Area of this road = 300 x 3.2 = 960 sq.m

The other two roads which are parallel to breadth will have dimensions

length = 240 m ; width = 3.2 m

Area = 240 x 3.2 + 240 x 3.2 = 1536 sq.m

since these roads are passing through filed they will have some common area of dimensions , 3.2 x 3.2 & 3.2 x 3.2

so, common area = (3.2 x 3.2) + (3.2 X 3.2) = 20.48 sq.m

Therefore total area of roads = 960 + 1536 - 20.48

A = 2475.52 sq.m

Given coast of gravelling = 2.25 per m .

=> total cost = 2475.52 x 2.25 = Rs.5569.92

Hope this helps you !! ✌️✌️☘️☘️.
