The area of the rectangular lawn in front of Meena's house is equal to 10x4= 40 sq.m

Now, when the lawn is fenced with that of the gap of 1 m

The length will be equal to 10-(1+1) = 8 m

The breadth is equal to 4-(1+1) = 2 m

Therefore, the area will be 8x2= 16 sqm

So, the right answer is 16 sqm

4+4(both sides)+(10-1)(longer side leaving a gap)
Ans length of fencing is 8+9=17m
