There is a rule for multiplying and dividing significant figures in which we round it to the smallest number of significant figures involved in the calculation.
So if I take simple numbers like 5.3*12=63.6. As the smallest number of the significant figures is 2 I round it off and write as 64. But I can also write it as 5.3/1*12*1 = 63.6. But in this 1 is a significant figure and we should round it off to 1 digit. But we don't do it and ignore the one. Why?
