ATQ,

the side wall of a slide in park is painted.

we know that side walls of slides are triangular.

let the sides of the side wall be a, b and c.

given the length of the sides :-

  • a = 6m

  • b = 8m

  • c = 10m

therefore it's semi-perimeter = (6 + 8 + 10)/2

= 24/2 = 12m

by heron's formula, we get area

 \tt =  \sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}  \\  \\  \tt =  \sqrt{12(12 - 6)(12 - 8)(12 - 10)}  \\  \\  \tt =  \sqrt{12 \times 6 \times 4 \times 2}

= √(2 × 2 × 3 × 2 × 3 × 2 × 2 × 2)

= √(2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3)

= 2 × 2 × 2 × 3

= 24m²

the area of the side wall which is to be painted is 24m².

hence, total cost of painting @ rupees 10 per m² = 24 × 10

= rupees 240

EXPLANATION —

Sides of Triangle are 6 m, 8 m,10 m

Semiperimeter (s) =

s =  \frac{6 + 8 + 10}{2}

s = 12 m

By Herons Formula

area =  \sqrt{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}

area =   \sqrt{12(12 - 6)(12 - 8)(12 - 10)}

area =  \sqrt{12 \times 6 \times 4 \times 2 }  = 24 {m}^{2}

∴area = 24 m²

Now the cost of Painting

= 24 × 10 = 240 rupess
