The answer would be 2.25 m.

Step-by-step explanation:

(See the attached figure)

Let AB be the height of the pole

Let ED be the height of the man = 1.5 m

Thus, AC =  AB - ED = 7.5 - 1.5 = 6 m

Now, the distance between the man and pole= 9m = DB

So, the angle of elevation is not known, and also the length of the shadow, x is unknown.

In triangle AEC

tan x= \frac{AC}{EC}

tan x = \frac{6}{9}

tan x = \frac{2}{3}

The angle of elevation will be the same as \angleEFD since lines DB and EC are parallel.

tan \angle EFD = \frac{ED}{FD}

\frac{2}{3} =\frac{ED}{FD}

So, the length of the shadow, FD
