You could have as well imagined the train travelling from Toronto to London, UK. There would be no smoke since it's electric ( that's the catch isn't it?) And the Toronto train to the UK wouldn't get beyond Newfoundland since it would fall into the ocean, creating quite a splash. There might have been smoke on the water if it was a steam engine though.
Now this is a question for the philosopher- musicians in the house. If Deep Purple played Smoke on the Water in the forest and there was no one to hear them, would they still make a sound?
By the way, I've included a picture of the Toronto harbourfront with beautiful clear skies and no smoke in sight. The clean air is one of the things I love about Toronto.
And all-electric trains is a big part of why our air is among the cleanest in the world.
