There is an object in front of convex mirror at a distance 5 cm. If its focal length is 10 cm, then

a) What is the image distance?

b) What is its magnification?​

Answer:

(a) as we know that mirror formula=1/v+1/u=1/f

1/v+1/-5=1/10(focal length of convex mirror is always taken in positive and object distance is always taken in negative)

1/v=1/10+1/5

1/v=1+2/10

1/v=3/10

10=3v

v=10/3cm

(b) magnification=-image distance/object distance

m=-v/u

m=-10/3×-1/5

m=2/3
