\displaystyle\huge\red{\underline{\underline{Solution}}}

GIVEN

There is enough food for 15 days for 20 persons in a residential school

TO DETERMINE

The number of days the food last for 30 persons

CALCULATION

SOLVE USING RULE OF THREE

 \sf{PERSONS  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  DAYS \: }

 \sf{ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  20 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 15\: }

 \sf{ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  30 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \: \:  \:  \:   \:  \: \: ?  \:  }

Here the amount of food is constant

So as the number of persons increase the number of days decrease

Hence the required number of days

 =   \displaystyle \sf{15 \times  \frac{20}{30}  \: }

 =   \displaystyle \sf{10   \: }

Hence The number of days the food last for 30 persons is 10 days
