Economically weaker section (EWS) in India is a sub-class with an annual family income of less than 8lakhs a year and who do not belong to  a particular category, such as SC/ST/OBC. The EWS in India is the General Category, where a candidate is not a member of castes accepted by the Govt as SC/ST/OBC. The yearly family income of Indian & its members will be below the prescribed limit (as stipulated in the concerned states by the Govt ) which is being less than INR 8 lakhs

Explanation:

 The National Law Universities (NLUs) offer SC / ST / OBC / PH seat reservation and reservation for women. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) reservation practices for all NLUs differ. The requirements are taken into consideration mainly in the seat distribution or in the consultation process. The next session, the 'counselling" likely to start via online mode in September 2020. On 28 September 2020, the Consortium will administer CLAT 2020 

The categories considered for the reservation of seats are as follows:

1. Scheduled Tribe (ST)
2. Scheduled Caste (SC)
3. Physically Disabled Candidates (PwD)
4. Other Backward Classes (OBC)
5. State Quota for the candidates in which NLU is located
6. Candidates belonging to the North-Eastern States
7. Kashmiri Migrants
8. NRI/Foreign National candidates

and now there is a reservation of 10% for Economic Weaker Sections as stipulated by the  Govt of India

On 7 January 2019, for the "Economically Weaker Section (EWS)" of the General category, a 10% quota was approved by the Cabinet in Government employment & educational institutions.
