Warm currents flow towards Queensland which carry a lot of water and that is why it experiences heavy rainfall while cold current flow towards Atacama and do not have water due to which it does rain in this desert and therefore it is arid. So both experience different kind of climate.

as the air above the warm currents is warm and thus has the capacity to hold water vapour the winds blowing in such regions carry moisture and cause rainfall in some coastal areas of Queensland receives rainfall as the warm currents being enough precipitation to the area cold currents on the contrary do not bring rainfall Atacama desert hardly experiences rainfall due to the cold Peru current
hope it heps
