There is heavy rainfall in Queensland but the Atacama desert is arid? why

As the air above the warm currents is warm and thus has the capacity to hold on to the water vapour, the winds blowing in such regions carry moisture and cause rainfall in some coastal areas. Thus Queensland receives rainfall as the warm currents bring enough precipitation to the area.

Cold currents on the contrary do not bring rainfall. The Atacama desert hardly experiences rainfall due to the cold Peru Current.
