Hey Mate...

Cigarette smoking also worsens other health problems related to high blood pressure such as pulmonary problems. Even light smoking can increase the risk of hypertension. ... That's because smoking damages your blood vessels and it also causes your arteries to harden. Both of which will cause your blood pressure to go up.

Thank you..

ANSWER:

Nicotine in cigarette increases blood pressure causing hypertension.

EXPLANATION:

Nicotine that is present in cigarettes raises the level of blood pressure as well as the heart rate of an individual. It narrows the arteries of the heart which increases blood pressure and hardens the artery walls which may cause bloods to clot.

The stress or hypertension caused by smoking increases the risk of stroke or heart attacks. Though smoking is not the only reason for hypertension but it is definitely one of them. Thus quitting smoking may reduce the chances of heart diseases.
