this is because the sun gets more water in the coastal areas to make it evaporate.
the crops in kerala r differant from punjab because ther is more humidity in kerala as it is an coastal state. juicy crops get favourable climate yo grow there while dry crops whic need less rainfal grow in kerala.

humidity is because of more evaporation and easy availability of water .and punjab is dry as compared to kerala .plants hav adapted differently to the atmosphere
