a)Curzon’s motive behind partitioning Bengal were:

(i) Curb the radical Bengali nationalists and thus to weaken the nationalist movement.

(ii) To set the Hindus and Muslims against each other.

b)Lord Curzon’s argument in favour of the partition of Bengal was that it was too large a province to be efficiently administered by a single provincial Government. It was quite difficult for Lt. Governor to administer it effectively. Therefore it should be divided into two provinces which would help to improve the administration of the two provinces.
