Atmosphere. See living organisms like plants and humans require a well defined atmosphere with necessary elements to survive. Like, we require oxygen, plants require carbon di oxide and some bacteria require nitrogen and sulphur etc. We/they can't live if we don't get the basic yet important elements.

Even though you can live without the atmosphere, without ozone layer, you literally get skin cancer due to UV rays. So, stay safe when you go to moon
