there was no official religion in India because there was many kind of religion in India. If there was a official religion than other religion think inequality.

because it is the treaty on the time of independence that India will not have any official religion and anyone can live here, it was mentioned that this country belong to specific religion then nationality will be over and perhaps India would divided into no.of piece as everyone contributed for freedom si everyone wants specific place for their religion
