There are large number of sellers (or firms),each satisfying a small share of the market demand for the product. No individual seller is big enough to influence the market on its own. Large number of buyers implies that no single buyer can exercise any bug influence on the price of the product on its own. So there is a price discrimination under monopolistic competition

so the statement is false
