The man has always been fascinated by the mysteries of the unknown. It is the process of unveiling these mysteries that make him adventurous. Unfortunately for him, there are fewer mysteries to unveil today. Life has indeed become very comfortable consequently there is no scope for adventure in this modern world. The adventure was manifest in all spheres of human life during the medieval times when man lived on the strength of his physical prowess. This was the period when in his quest for supremacy, he waged great wars and made a big conquest. There were avenues for adventure in unveiling the mysteries of nature, in travel and sport.

It was also the age of discovery. The adventure was writ in the entire of discoveries ranging from the invention of engines, train, the aeroplane and even the discovery of new regions, tribes, planets, ocean and islands etc. Compared to this, the avenues of adventure in the modern age are very limited. This is so because there are fewer discoveries being made today and those that are taking place are difficult for the common man to comprehend.

Travel has always been the form of the adventure. Travel by train, car or aeroplanes can hardly be called as adventurous. The journey that used to take months and years and horseback are today complies in hours. Ordinary men had become immortal of their making new discoveries of countries and places like Columbus discovering America and Vasco da Gama discovering India. In the field of education, sports and entertainment too, the advent of modernity has reduced the scope for adventure. We now study and play to make a career of it. Gone is the personal touch which was the hallmark of education in the gurukuls. Manly sports events like cricket, football and indoor games which by no stretch of imagination can be called adventurous.

The modern age, in fact, has made us lazy. The emphasis is more on the use of mental power than physical strength. We are today accustomed to having all amenities at the flick of a button. This is one of the primary reasons as to why there is no scope for adventure in the modern world.

The daily lifestyle of the humans are becoming more and more monotonic in every passing decade. This happens due to the modernisation of the human society.

Now we all want a efficient, comfortable and risk free lifestyle for ourselves.

That's why the chances and circumstances for an adventure in this modern world are decreasing day by day.

This will lead to a completely monotonic and depressed human society in the near future.
