(1) what is tonicity of first beaker and second beaker?

(3) account for the firmness and limping of green gram seeds in both the beakers.
(4) what would happen if green gram seed is placed in isotonic solution?

Explanation:

(i) Raisins in beaker A with plain water will get swollen due to endosmosis while raisins in beaker B with concentrated sugar solution will get shrink due to exosmosis.

(ii) Plain water is hypotonic while concentrated sugar solution is hypertonic.
