There lived a boy whose name was Sonu. His father was a government employee who was posted in Bangaluru. Every year they used to go for sightseeing during the summer vacation. He told his father that he was interested to see the nature when he was a student of class 8. Then his parents planned to take him to Panchmarhi Biosphere Reserve that year. Sonu’s vacation started. He was very much excited to go to Panchmarhi. They travelled by flight from Bengaluru to Bhopal. From Bhopal airport they travelled by taxi to Panchmarhi which is at a distance of 200 km from Bhopal airport. They halted in a hotel. They went to see the panchmarhi biosphere Reserve the next day, they were accompanied by a forest guide Rajesh in to that protected areas. Rajesh explained him that the biosphere Reseve is a large protected area. The Panchmarhi Biosphere Reserve contains one national park (Satpura) and two wild life sanctuaries (Bori and Panchmarhi) within it. When they were going in they could see some of the flora such as Sal, teak, mango, jamun, silver ferns, arjun, etc,and fauna such as chinkara, blue-bull, barking deer, cheetal, leopard, wild dog, wolf, etc. Rajeshji also told that some species of plants and animals are exclusively found in the Panchmarhi Biosphere Reserve. Rajeshji  shows sal and wild mango as two examples of the endemic flora of the Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve. Bison, Indian giant Squirrel and flying squirrel are endemic fauna of this area.  Rock shelters are also found inside the Satpura National Park. These are evidences of prehistoric human life in these jungles. Sonu and his parents were thrilled after witnessing these plants and animals as these were being taken care and conserved by the forest department.
