Generally matter is classified into six types .They are :

1)solid     2)liquid       3)plasma     4) gas    5) bose-einstien condensate 

 6) Fermi condensate

But we commonly we refer only SOLID , LIQUID and GAS as states of matter since  they  only exist around us.
