Number of girls = 160

Number of boys = 76

total number of students = 160+76=236

number of girls left = 5/100*160 = 8

total number of girls = 160-8= 152

total number of students = 152+76=228

%of boys = (76/228)*100
= 33.33

The answer is 34.2%

GIVEN

There are 160 girls and 76 boys in a school. if 5% of girls leave and no new pupils are admitted.

TO FIND

what percentage of the whole school will be boys.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Number of girls = 160

Number of Boys = 76

Total number of students = 160+76 = 236

Percentage of girls on leave = 5%

Number of girls on leave = 5% of 160 = 0.05 × 160 = 8

Number of students remaining = 236-8 = 228

Percentage of boys in the school =

 \frac{76}{228} \times 100 = 34.2

Hence, The answer is 34.2%
