There is 5 / 8 of a pie left in the fridge, so let the total amount of pie was x .

pie left in the fridge = 5 / 8 of x = 5x / 8

Rahul ate 1 / 4 of the left over pie, so remaining pie will be : ( 5 x / 8 ) - ( 1 / 4 of 5 x / 8 )

Remaining pie = { 5x / 8 } { 1 - 1 / 4 }

Remaining pie = { 5x / 8 }{ ( 4 - 1 ) / 4 }

Remaining pie = { 5x / 8 }{ 3 / 4 }

Remaining pie = 5x / 8 × 3 / 4

Remaining pie = 15 x / 32

Therefore, now 15 / 32 of the pie is left in the fridge.

Step-by-step explanation:

Amount of pie left in fridge = 4 / 5

Amount of pie Sarah ate = 1 / 6

So, 1 / 6 of 4 /  means, we have to subtract 4 / 5 from 1 / 6

meaning, 4 / 5 - 1 / 6

= LCM of  5 and 6 = 30

So, 4 / 5 will be = 24 / 30

and, 1 / 6 will be = 5 / 30

Subtraction =  24 - 5 / 30

= 19 / 30
