Answer:

The marked price is Rs. 25000.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data:

Discount = 20%

VAT = 18%

The sale price of the laptop = Rs. 23600

To find: Marked price of the laptop

Let the marked price of the laptop be “Rs. x”.

The price of the laptop after 20% discount = x - 0.2x = 0.8x

A VAT of 18% is charged on to the price after discount. This price then becomes the sale price of the laptop for Prachi.

So,

Sale Price along with VAT = 0.8x * 1.18 = 0.944x

Therefore,

0.944x = 23600

Or, x = 23600 / 0.944 = Rs. 25000
