there was a deserted land near a colony where people used to throw garbage. Colony people united to develop a pond in triangular shape as shown in the figure. The land is in the shape of a parallelogram ABCD. In the rest of the portion medicinal plants are grown. The area of the parallelogram is 200 meter Square.

Calculate area where medicinal plants are grown.

Area of a parallelogram = Base x altitude = 200 m²

since PD is an altitude drawn to the base DC

Hence area of the parallelogram = DC x PD = 200

Also the pond is a triangle shaped with DC as base and PD as altitude

Hence area of the pond

= 1/2 x Base x altitude

= 1/2 x DC x PD

= 1/2 x 200

= 100

Area of the medicinal plant = Area of the land - area of the pond

= 200 - 100

= 100 m²

Hence the area where the medicinal plants were grown is 100 m²
