There was a leakage in the container of the refined oil. If 11 kg oil is leaked out per day then it would have lasted for 50 days, if the leakage was 15 kg per day, then it would have lasted for only 45 days. For how many days would the oil have lasted, if there was no leakage and it was completely used for eating purpose?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

There was a leakage in the container of the refined oil. If 11 kg oil is leaked out per day then it would have lasted for 50 days, if the leakage was  15 kg per day, then it would have lasted for only 45 days. For how many days would the oil have lasted, if there was no leakage and it was completely used for eating purpose?

ANSWER

Let x kg of oil be used for purpose of eating daily.

So wasted quantity will be 11 x 50 = 550 kg

Now total oil in the container = 50 x + 550 kg

Now quantity of oil used in 45 days = 45 x kg

Wasted quantity = 15 x 45 = 675 kg

So total oil in the container will be 45 x + 675 kg

Equating we get

50 x + 550 = 45 x + 675

50 x – 45 x = 675 – 550

  5 x = 125

    x = 25 consumption of one day

Now total quantity of oil

 = 50 x 25 + 550 = 1800 kg

Now required number of days the oil would have lasted will be quantity / consumption = 1800 / 25 = 72 days
