total: 9500

men: 6375

remaining: 9500 - 6375

= 3125 people

let the number of women be x

so, number of children = 4x

x + 4x = 3125

5x = 3125

x = 3125/5

x = 625

if there were 625 women then,

children = 4x

children = 4(625)

children = 2500

ANSWER:

there were 2500 children
