there were many false beliefs about the heart and blood circulation in the past.many believed (and some still do) that he heart is the center of emotions and intellect. many physicians in the 16th century believed that the lungs were responsible for moving the blood around the body and that blood was consumed by the organs in the body. an English physician, William Harvey challenged many of the false beliefs in the late 1620's.he contributed greatly to our understanding of how the heart and blood circulation system work.with the help of the internet, carry out research about what Harvey found out about the heart and blood circulation and what scientific methods he use to gather his evidence.
the development of ideas about the heart and circulation shows that theories change when they are not supported by evidence.it also shows that there were long periods of time before ideas, through not supported by evidence, changed.
