Electricity allows us to power the technology we use every day. ... If you plan on trying to live without electricity, you will no longer be able to turn on the central heating in your home, use the toilet, preserve food in your fridge/freezer or have clean running water.

If there is no electricity for a month, the washing machine will stop working; it would, therefore, be a tedious affair to manually wash or get them washed everyday. With the refrigerator not functioning, we would find it difficult to store perishables like milk, vegetables, fruits, butter etc and would have to visit the market more frequently. The microwave oven will not work, so we would have get used to a few cold meals. With a non-functional television, the evenings will be pretty boring. Most of all, if we are unable to charge our smartphones, it would spell a complete communication breakdown, both on social networking and on voice calls.
