First,we need to find the total no. of chocolates given by santosh and pinky

1/4 +1/3

3/12+4/12

7/12

Fraction of chocolates given to alpana

12/12-7/12

5/12

(Unitary method)

5/12=50

1/12=50/5

There are 120 chocolates

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the total chocolates be x

Santosh gave 1/4th of the chocolate to Pinky

Chocolates for Pinky = \frac{1}{4}x

1/3rd of the chocolates to Poonam

Chocolates for Poonam =\frac{1}{3}x

Remaining chocolates = x-(\frac{1}{4}x+\frac{1}{3}x)

He gave 50 chocolates to Alpana

So,x-(\frac{1}{4}x+\frac{1}{3}x)= 50

x-\frac{7}{12}x=50 \\\frac{5}{12}x=50\\x=\frac{50 \times 12}{5}

x=120

Hence There are 120 chocolates
