the first opinion was France wanted to civilise Vietnam..
some policy makers emphasised the need to use the French language as medium of instruction.
by this they felt, the Vietnamese would be introduced to the culture and civilisation of France..
this would help in creating 'ASIATIC FRANCE'
the educated people would respect French sentiments and ideals..
2. by the French as medium of instruction..
many Vietnamese failed on exams and they didn't get educated so that they will not be able to question the French rule...
But few people went to Japan and got educated. these people rises nationalist movements in Vietnamese people..
