Given, diameter of rod i.e d=1cm

length of wire i.e l = 8cm

then according to question new length l' = 18cm

new diameter d' =?

We know , Initial vol. V = Final vol. V'

=> πr²l = π(r')²(l') ( because vol. cylinder is πr²h)

=> (1/2)²(8) = (r')²(18)

(1/4(8) = (r')²(18)

=> (r')² = 1/9

r' = 1/3

=> thickness of wire = 2r'

d' = 2×1/3 = 2/3
