Answer:

Thermal energy: Energy due to temperature which results in the movement of molecules. In gases, the intermolecular forces of attraction are the weakest while thermal energy is highest. In solids, intermolecular forces of attraction are strongest while thermal energy is minimum.

Thermal Energy:-

→ It is the average kinetic energy of molecules. It is directly proportionally to temperature.

→ Solid < liquid < gas : Increasing order of thermal energy

→ Gas <liquid < solid : Increasing order of inter molecular forces.

→ By lowering the temperature, thermal energy can be decreased, hence gas can be liquified.

Gaseous state:-

→ Eleven elements namely hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, fluorine, chlorine, helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon and radon are in gaseous under normal conditions.

Characteristics of gaseous state:-

→ Intermix spontaneously. It is called diffusion of gases.

→ Do not have fixed volume or shape.

→ Assume volume and shape of the container.

→ Highly compressible.

→ Low density

→ Exert pressure on the wall's of the container.
