These are the top postulates supporting kinetic theory of gases,

1. Gases consist of small individual particles called as molecules
2. The properties of molecules are same in gas but varies in different gases
3.The volume of a molecule is negligible when comparing with the distance between two molecules.
4. There is no attractive or repulsive force between molecules thus the energy will be kinetic.
5. Velocity of molecules is directly proportional to temperature.
6. Molecular denisity of an ideal gas is always constant
7. Molecules are hard elastic spheres

Just in addition to this points, Real gases shows ideal behavior when it comes to obey all the kinetic theory postulates.

The postulates of the kinetic molecular theory of gases ignore both the volume occupied by the molecules of a gas and all interactions between molecules, whether attractive or repulsive. ... In this section, we consider the properties of real gases and how and why they differ from the predictions of the ideal gas law.

Explanation:

  1. All the gases consist of very small particles called Molecules.
  2. the molecules are very small and the volume of a molecule is negligible as compared to the intermolecular distance and the volume of the containar.
  3. Gas molecules are in continuous random motion and straight line until they collide with another body collision.
  4. all the collision are perfectly elastic.
  5. The gas molecules exert no force of attraction or repulsion on one another.
  6. The average kinetic energy of the molecules of a gas is directly proportional to the absolute temperature.
  7. the pressure of gas is the result of the gas molecules against the wall of the container.
