1. Conventional :
•are non renewable sources of energy that can be consume after a long time.
•e.g. coal, petroleum and natural gas, etc.
Non conventional :
•are renewable sources of energy. They have been use since a long time.
•e.g. firewood, solar energy, wind energy, etc.
2. Advantages :
a. most conventional sources are cheaper and renewable as compared to non conventional sources.
b. scarcity of fossil fuels
3. Mineral conservation is necessary because they are country's valuable possession.
Three measures are :-
a. judicious and carefull utilization of resources,
b. preventing wastage and misuse of resources,
c. use of alternatives and substitutes in the case of non renewable resources.
4. Mining is the process of extracting of valuable resource from the Earth's crust. It's done to acquire the resources that cannot be grown or fabricated through artificial means.
•Types are :
a. open-pit mining,
b. strip mining, and
c. quarrying.

India is blessed with an abundance of non conventional sources of energy like sunlight, water, wind, biomass energy, etc. There is a capacity of about 1,95,000 MW non conventional sources of energy in India. 31% of it is the form of solar energy, 30% in ocean and geothermal, 26% in biomass, and 10% in wind energy.

6. Geothermal energy is the thermal energy that can be generated and stored in the Earth. Thermal energy is the energy that determines the temperature of matter.
It's produced by the heat of Earth's molten interior. This energy is harnessed to generate electricity when water is injected deep underground and returns as steam to drive a turbine on an electric power generator.
